language support

The language support in the district of Böblingen bundles all information relating to language support opportunities for migrants and refugees in the district of Böblingen. The clearing house shall provide advice to all interested parties. The Clearinghouse Sprachförderung also organises language courses in accordance with the German administrative provision, through which funds are made available every year by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, in order to enable persons who do not have access to the regular integration courses of the Federal Ministry of Migration and Refugees to provide language support. Part of the costs is also covered by the Böblingen Landratsamt (Landratsamt Böblingen). The application and settlement of funding, as well as the planning of demand-based language courses, is part of the work of the Clearing House. In addition, the Clearinghouse works in a close network with the language course providers, the Jobcenter Landkreis Böblingen and the employment agencies. Vocational schools, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees and social care and integration management are also part of the network. This network meets at regular intervals from a body to exchange views and develop improvements. Another task area is the creation of databases and statistics as well as the provision of an up-to-date overview of integration courses.

“MiQnet” Migrants in Enterprises — Qualification Network

For a successful professional integration of migrants, there is an intensive need for a structured approach and networking on the entrepreneur’s side. Among companies, as well as with labour market players, foreigners’ authorities and potential international workers, to meet the high demand for young people across the country. And to address professionals. Therefore, the subproject of the IQ Network Baden-Württemberg “MiQnet” started on January 1, 2019. The project will run until 31.12.2022.
The aim of the project is to achieve a coordinated, active and sustainable cross-sectoral networking of companies in the district of Böblingen. The companies are informed and supported by the project about support measures, qualification offers, support services for companies, legal issues with and by the local labour market actors as well as specialist offices from the Office for Migration and Refugees. Through the personal training and consulting services, companies are supported in the integration of workers with a migrant background in the company. Coordinators and contact persons for the project are Ricarda Gregori and Nina Born.
The project is funded by the funding programme “Integration through Qualification (IQ)”. This funding programme aims at the sustainable improvement of the labour market integration of people with a migrant background.
The programme is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the European Social Fund (ESF). Partners in the implementation are the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Employment Agency (BA).

Brochure presents examples of successful integration
The Department of Integration of the Office for Migration and Refugees publishes a brochure with 33 country-wide examples describing supportive approaches to the integration of people with history of immigration in the educational, social and labour market sectors. With the title “Good-Practice in the district of Böblingen — Examples of successful integration of people with a history of immigration in a social and professional context” (3,132 MiB), the brochure is intended to serve in particular for integration actors, engaged and interested parties as an inspiration and template in order to further develop and continue integration processes. The examples do not represent the claim of a complete and holistic overview of the district with its offers and plots, but rather form a selection of good practice examples that have been tested, proven, or easily transferred. The aim is to learn which concepts and approaches can work.
Examples from the fields of education and children, between school and occupation, mental health, participation in society, learning and empowering, meetings and networks, and working environments are presented in 7 topics. It describes the approach, cooperation with network partners, the added value and specificities that can lead to the success of the initiatives and projects. The long-term goal is to allow solutions to be integrated into existing structures or networks beyond the trial phase, so that the experiences and insights gained can develop sustainability.

Value transfer

From July 2016 to February 2017, the Office for Migration and Refugees offered a concept for the transfer of values for refugees. In the communal accommodation units were offered in small groups, accompanied by local social assistance, target group-specific units. With the expertise of cooperation partners from the Stuttgart and Böblingen region, low-threshold training courses were presented and carried out. The topics “Diversity in German Society”, “Woman and Man’s Role Understanding”, “Prevention from Radicalisation” and “Children and Education” were addressed. Now the field of integration has issued a handbook that bundles the methodological content and describes the approaches to action. This should serve as a guide to enable guides to realise a value transfer. The manual includes, among other things, recommendations for action, instructions and methods for securing results.
